Since 2008, Lodgit Hotelsoftware GmbH has been based in the west of Leipzig. For good reason, founder Dr.-Ing. Dirk Bockelmann chose the up-and-coming district of Plagwitz, as the neighbourhood around the popular Karl Heine Canal has exuded creativity, originality and startup atmosphere since the turn of the millennium. It is therefore not surprising that Lodgit’s headquarters are firmly anchored here in premises of the former Konsumzentrale.
The historic building complex from the 1930s offers an attractive working environment for imaginative minds that brings many potential collaborations with new and emerging companies.
The beginning of Lodgit’s success story is based on personal experience of the company’s owner, who at that time often despaired of the insufficient possibilities to make binding bookings for smaller hotels, guesthouses and apartments via the Internet. So he came up with the idea of programming an effective and inexpensive online booking system. The focus was precisely on the accommodation businesses that could not afford expensive software due to their small size.
Lodgit Desk software was originally only intended as an auxiliary program for input before the data was to go online. However, the clear and self-explanatory interface for data entry won many customers, so that the entire team focused on the expansion of Lodgit Desk software.
